WWE’s decision to push Liv Morgan has stemmed from the suspensions of Sasha Banks and Naomi.
In May, WWE suspended both Banks and Naomi after they walked out of RAW due to creative differences with the planned main event.
At WWE Money in the Bank 2022, Morgan won the women’s Ladder match and cashed in on Ronda Rousey hours later to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Naomi and Sasha Banks’ walkout pushed WWE to elevate Morgan, believing they needed a new top babyface on SmackDown.
It was also noted that the timing worked out because the fans were ready to embrace Liv as a top star.
It is unclear if Morgan would still have been pushed at Money in the Bank had Banks and Naomi not walked out.
Liv Morgan will defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam against Ronda Rousey on July 30.
