As many of you know by now, the Forgotten Sons’ Steve Cutler was released by WWE on Thursday. As we previously reported here on eWn, Cutler was released after being diagnosed with COVID-19. While this may seem a bit harsh for WWE to do this after a majority of the roster has came into contact with COVID-19, there is more to the story.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cutler had attended a New Year’s Eve party on December 31st, 2020 and that’s where it’s believed he came into contact with the virus. The problem is that since then, he had been backstage around most of the SmackDown roster, including WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Vince had promised Reigns and others a safe, healthy working environment. With Cutler getting the virus and thus exposing many of the WWE roster to it, this goes against everything Vince had just promised his roster. Therefore, Cutler got major heat as Vince was said to have been “livid” upon hearing that Cutler was diagnosed and may have potentially spread the virus.

Cutler was also running some drills and doing some training at the Capital Wrestling Center and was also brought back with Wesley Blake as part of King Corbin’s faction. This was ultimately dropped for obvious reasons following Cutler’s COVID diagnosis and then subsequent release from WWE. Cutler is currently serving a 90-day no compete clause.
