In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports on when Eric Bischoff reportedly began meeting for the SmackDown Executive Director position with WWE.
The meetings are said to have began after the June 11th and 12th tapings in North Carolina. The deal itself is said to have come together by the 25th of June.
In The Observer, there’s a fascinating freestyle by Dave comparing the opportunity that Vince McMahon is giving Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff to the opportunity he himself is taking by relaunching the XFL. WCW and ECW, much like the XFL, folded in 2001 and 18 years later, each respective figurehead is taking another chance on building a successful brand.
As of now, Bischoff is set to officially begin his position on the Tuesday following Extreme Rules which will be 12 days from now.
