According to Ringside News, the decision was made to replace Baron Corbin with Shane McMahon on the men’s team for Team Smckdown because officials wanted more people to pay attention to the match. They felt as though putting in Shane on Smackdown would make people more interested in the match. This was reportedly a last-minute decision.
As for Baron Corbin, news is this isn’t a deterrent to him, and that there are still future plans for him in place.
