As seen during last weekend’s ROH “Best in the World” pay-per-view event, Matt Taven defeated Jeff Cobb in less than ten minutes to retain the ROH World title. With the win, Taven ended Cobb’s undefeated streak and he did it clean.
According to reports, the feeling backstage is that Taven had to win because Cobb is confirmed for NJPW’s G-1 Climax tournament. During that tournament, Cobb is likely to lose several matches. Of course, it wouldn’t look good for ROH to have their current World Champion lose to a person who is likely to lose multiple matches in another promotion.
