Backstage News on Why WWE Chose to Keep United States Title on Andrade

Andrade failed for his first WWE Wellness Policy violation but didn’t drop the United States Title to Humberto Carrillo at the Royal Rumble or Monday’s episode of Raw.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that it was Paul Heyman’s idea to keep the US title on Andrade as Heyman is reportedly high on Andrade and wants to make him a “franchise player.” It was noted that Andrade is seen as a cornerstone of the franchise and he felt that having Carrillo beat him so quickly would not help accomplish that goal.

Heyman is also high on Drew McIntyre, Buddy Murphy, Aleister Black, Carrillo and Ricochet “to a lesser extent.”
