As we reported yesterday here on eWn, there were some rumors that WWE was planning to make additional cuts, especially as it pertains to developmental and the WWE NXT brand.
During today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said there’s still “talk” of more releases coming shortly. He said,
“I didn’t hear any names today, but there’s certainly talk of more names coming — not big names, maybe developmental names, coming.”
On Thursday, WWE announced the releases of Samoa Joe, The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce), Mojo Rawley, Wesley Blake, Kalisto, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Bo Dallas, and Tucker. WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis made the calls to talent and said the cuts were being made due to “budget cuts.”
