Brock Lesnar has returned to WWE and will be facing off against Roman Reigns in a “Last Man Standing Match” at SummerSlam.
During this week’s episode of SmackDown, Lesnar came out following the main event and attacked Reigns. After the show went off the air, WWE confirmed that the two men will once again be facing off against each other.
According to a report from Fightful, WWE officials reached out to Lesnar after it became clear that Randy Orton would not be coming back anytime soon due to suffering a back injury. Originally, Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns was scheduled to headline WWE SummerSlam. As previously reported, it appears that Orton will be undergoing surgery and will be out of action for the remainder of 2022.
Additionally, word began to spread backstage shortly before 5 PM ET that Brock Lesnar could be making his return. With that being said, he was not listed on any internal rundowns so the company clearly wanted to keep his return a secret.
And finally, while there has been some speculation that Brock Lesnar was brought back after the investigation into Vince McMahon became public, the plan to bring the “Beast Incarnate” back came together around three weeks ago.
