As you are aware, the ending to the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder match stirred up quite the talk among the wrestling world. The idea of James Ellsworth, a man, grabbing the briefcase in the first-ever Women’s MITB Ladder match riled many of people up. But, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that was the point.
Dave Meltzer noted that the reasoning behind the finish was indeed to get people talking about the match, serving as a set-up in order to promote the rematch that we will see on SmackDown Live next Tuesday.
Meltzer: “They pushed the idea that this first match was historical, then gave people an ending that would be anything but. With the idea of using that to garner interest in a television rematch where that first match result was negated.”
