According to sources, The Rock’s next film may keep him from working a match at WWE’s WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view. As previously reported here on eWrestlingNews.com, WWE wants to have The Rock team up with Ronda Rousey to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34. This has been the plan for several years now, ever since WrestleMania 31. WWE was rumored to be trying to get The Rock to team with Rousey as a follow-up to their angle at WrestleMania 31. That match may be difficult to make work now due to insurance concerns.

Most insurers, especially in Hollywood, are likely to be nervous about The Rock appearing in a wrestling match prior to the production of his next film, “Jungle Cruise”. As of this writing, the film is set to begin filming in May. Usually, the cast of a film gets insured in case someone gets sick, injured or even dies while filming the movie.

With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the situation is “somewhat complicated” due to the fact that he suffered an injury during a match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29. The injury caused production of “Hercules” to be delayed. Delays like that can cost production companies hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. With that being said, insurers will more than likely be much more skittish and raise the insurance costs on the film if The Rock does indeed wrestle a match at WrestleMania 34.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
