According to a report from Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, several sources are indicating that WWE’s current plan is to have fans in attendance at SummerSlam later this year. This follows the massive success of having live fans for both nights of WrestleMania 37. The company announced that the shows were sold out with 25,675 fans in attendance each night.

WWE President & CRO Nick Khan recently said that while WWE does have plans to eventually go back on the road, they are only going to go back to doing so when they can do it full-time.

Of course, WrestleMania 37 was a special instance where they wanted to have fans in attendance. Khan said it “needed to be done.” He said,

“We’re not looking to do other one-offs. Again, this was WrestleMania. And we felt it needed to be done for the fans. So look for news coming soon.”

As of this writing, no date or location for SummerSlam 2021 has been announced. This is likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
