Backstage News On WWE’s Plans For Jinder Mahal And WWE Title

Bryan Alvarez talked about WWE Champion Jinder Mahal’s upcoming title defense against Shinsuke Nakamura at the Hell in a Cell PPV (pay-per-view) event on Friday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live. During the show, he indicated that Mahal probably wouldn’t be dropping the title anytime soon.

He would go on to add that the only way that he could see WWE making the decision to have Mahal drop the title and Nakamura go over at Hell in a Cell is if the upcoming tour of India is a WWE Network special. Mahal would go onto to win back the WWE Title in front of the live audience in his home country.

The belief is that it would have been a huge waste of time to put the title on Mahal only to have him lose the title before the company heads overseas for the tour in India. Alvarez would add that the original plans were always for Mahal to hold onto the WWE Title until WrestleMania 34, which takes place next year.
