Backstage Note On Unspoken Changes Made To Matches At WWE Clash At The Castle

At last Saturday’s WWE Clash at the Castle pay-per-view event, there were several changes made to unspoken rules.

One of the rules that was changed was that an illegal person can’t successfully attack a legal person in a tag team match without it causing a DQ. The original rule was that there was a five-second double team but if the illegal attack happened, it had to be with a referee down.

A big one featured a referee getting pulled out of the ring before making a successful three count on a pin for a babyface. This rule dated back to the Attitude Era in WWE, but Vince McMahon banned it because he felt it “makes no sense.” The spot was featured in the main event, when Solo Sikoa saved Roman Reigns from a pin attempt by Drew McIntyre.
