As most wrestling fans saw this past Monday Night on RAW, there were a good handful of WWE Superstars who did not appear on the show. As noted before, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre tested positive for COVID-19 and is expected to be out until the Royal Rumble (if he is able to recover in time and test negative before the show). Most of the Superstars who were absent were at the show backstage but were simply not booked for the event.
The list of WWE Superstars, other than McIntyre, who did not appear were RAW Women’s Champion Asuka, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander, Humberto Carrillo, Ricochet, and Nikki Cross. Carrillo did however work a match for the WWE Main Event taping that took place prior to RAW.
In a report provided by Fightful Select, the show went through numerous changes (as expected) through the late evening hours. Multiple matches and segments were changed as the show was written, then re-written. However, this is pretty much the “norm” nowadays for most RAW TV tapings and isn’t seen as anything out of the ordinary. Other Superstars were kept off to recover from minor injuries.
WWE is currently dealing with another COVID-19 outbreak, with at least four Superstars having the virus (including McIntyre mentioned above). The other Superstars, who have yet to be named, were from SmackDown and NXT respectively.
