A new report from Fightful Select has some backstage notes coming out of this week’s AEW television tapings. As previously reported, AEW made a significant backstage hire with the employment of Michael Mansury. Seen by many as the one-time heir apparent to Kevin Dunn’s chair in WWE, Mansury joined AEW recently to help with their television production. Mansury was in attendance at last night’s tapings to observe the product, but is not officially on duty yet in his new position.

Several members of the AEW locker room noted that morale and direction in the locker room has significantly improved over recent weeks.

Fans of AEW who were also fans of the “NBA on NBC” during the 1990s might have noticed a familiar theme on last night’s show. The theme “Roundball Rock,” written by John Tesh, was used for the best-of-seven series match between The Elite and Death Triangle. Reportedly, Tony Khan wanted the music rights to the song so that he could use the theme coming out of Full Gear. According to sources, the rights holders were very reasonable and easy to work with, and they made a deal that was easy to reach. The report notes that music right inquiries can sometimes be a “wild card.”
