According to sources, there was a lot of “eye-rolling” over the Kane vs. Finn Balor match backstage at Monday night’s WWE RAW broadcast. Numerous fans on several social media platforms did not understand why they had Finn Balor beat AJ Styles Sunday night at WWE’s TLC pay-per-view event and then had Kane pin Balor on RAW when he hadn’t wrestled in a singles match in over a year. WWE also had plenty of other people who they could have “fed” to Kane as they build to a Braun Strowman vs. Kane match at WWE Survivor Series.
According to Dave Meltzer, numerous backstage sources, many of whom usually defend Vince McMahon and his creative booking, didn’t understand the decision and were said to have been “surprised” as to why Kane defeated Balor. Many of the RAW and SmackDown! Superstars also questioned the decision.
Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin tweeted the following, speculating that WWE may only use Balor’s “Demon” character to defeat major opponents. Satin tweeted,
I’m wondering if it’s because they believe Finn’s character has to be “The Demon” to beat a bigger opponent. If so, that’s silly. — Ryan Satin (@ryansatin) October 24, 2017
