According to sources, the reason WWE has opted to keep Paige on television in the role of the SmackDown! Live General Manager is due to the upcoming release of the film, Fighting With My Family, which is due out in early 2019. WWE heavily promoted the film during WrestleMania 34 weekend, and it’s about the life of Paige. As we’ve previously reported here on eWrestlingNews.com, the film is produced by WWE Studios and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s “Seven Bucks Productions”.
In addition to that, Paige receiving the General Manager role will feature her receiving more exposure and airtime on television. WWE reportedly feared that releasing Paige or not featuring her on TV could potentially damage the movie. Also for what it’s worth, Paige being chosen for the GM role was the decision of Vince McMahon.
