As noted last week here on eWn, current ROH Champion Matt Taven’s contract will be expiring at the end of this month. Also, Marty Scurll’s ROH contract will expire in November.
In an update on Taven, many people backstage in ROH expect him to stay and the two sides are currently in contract negotiations. ROH originally put the title on Taven because they wanted to build him up and knew Scurll was the bigger risk of leaving.
With that being said, ROH wanted to use Scurll to build up PCO and Brody King. PCO, Rush, Jeff Cobb and Bandido are all under one year deals. As of this writing, there is no word on where Scurll will wind up going but there is belief backstage that he’ll sign with whoever the “highest bidder” is.
Bandido and Cobb will likely re-sign with ROH as they both like the easier schedule and access to NJPW.
AEW is obviously interested in Scurll. He is friends with The Elite and has made numerous appearances on their “Being the Elite” YouTube.com series. WWE (NXT) is also said to be a “viable” option for Scurll. The report says “not to dismiss the idea he’d go to any of the three options,” meaning ROH, AEW or WWE.
