According to a new report from Post Wrestling, Vince McMahon’s decision to replace Kofi Kingston for Kevin Owens in the WWE Fastlane main event was made “on the fly” and was a “spur of the moment” decision. McMahon made the call to change the match last weekend before the RAW and SmackDown! Live TV tapings.
As seen during last week’s WWE SmackDown! Live broadcast, Kevin Owens made his return as part of McMahon’s on-screen announcement of the Fastlane main event change. With that being said, Kingston is likely to get his shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 instead so it may be better for him in the long run. Of course, they could always add Owens into the WrestleMania match to make it a triple-threat but that remains to be seen. Stay tuned.
