We have received some news regarding WWE wanting to hold a major pay-per-view event in the United Kingdom (UK) sometime in 2022. In a report provided by WhatCulture.com, the company is planning to hold an event possibly in September 2022 at a stadium venue with the hopes of pulling in over 90,000 fans.

Some of the targeted venues include Manchester’s Old Trafford, Wales’ Principality Stadium and London’s Wembley Stadium. It should be noted that August 29th, 2022 will be the 30th anniversary of WWF(E) SummerSlam 1992, which was held at London’s Wembley Stadium and was headlined by WWE Hall of Famers Bret “Hitman” Hart and “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith for the Intercontinental Championship. The last major UK pay-per-view event held by WWE was Insurrextion in June 2003 at the Telewest Arena in Newcastle, England.

Dave Meltzer noted that “there’s certainly been talk of that” in WWE for a while now. While there is no direct confirmation from WWE in regards to an event being held next year in the UK, the talks are said to be getting more serious given the fact that WWE is driven to hold multiple big stadium shows throughout 2022.

We have already confirmed that Royal Rumble 2022 will be held at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri on January 29. WrestleMania 38 is slated for AT&T Stadium on April 3. WWE will also be returning to Allegiant Stadium on July 4 weekend for Money in the Bank 2022.
