On Friday, Bryan Alvarez reported that All Elite Wrestling made the decision to pull Matt and Jeff Hardy from the Ladder Match on Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite prior to Jeff’s DUI arrest on Monday. According to a report from Fightful, that is not the case.

Just prior to Jeff Hardy being arrested, the plan was still to have the Hardy’s work the Ladder Match. With that being said, the final decision would have been made after Jeff got a brain scan.

While he was being questioned after being pulled over, Jeff Hardy told the arresting officers that he was on his way to get a brain scan done. If he wasn’t cleared to compete by doctors after the scan, he would have been pulled from the match. The plan was always for Matt Hardy to remain in the match, but he would have teamed with a different partner if Jeff wasn’t cleared in time.

Of course, all of this came to a halt after Jeff was arrested on Monday.

As of this writing, there is no word on what will happen with Matt Hardy going forward in AEW. In recent days, both Tony Khan and Matt have had talks about what to do next.

Jeff Hardy remains suspended without pay from AEW. In order for him to return, he needs to get treatment and maintain sobriety. There is no word on if Jeff has entered a treatment program already or if he’s planning to do so in the near future.
