As noted, AJ Mendez, wife of Phil “CM Punk” Brooks, has been announced as an executive and commentator for the revamped Women of Wrestling (WOW) promotion, set for CBS affiliate stations in the fall of 2022.
In an update, PWInsider.com is reporting that the reason she decided to return for WOW instead of WWE or even AEW was because of how much time those potential gigs would take away from other outside projects.
Mendez has not made a return to the business yet as a result of keeping plenty busy with her projects outside of the wrestling industry.
Apparently the fact that WOW made her an offer to become an executive was also an enticing and luring part of the deal.
In terms of why she won’t be returning in an in-ring capacity, neck issues she has dealt with throughout her life and career has made it such that it is not a realistic possibility.
