News broke on Friday night that Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is up within the next year.
Fightful Select provided an update on his deal by noting that they were told McIntyre’s deal is up “within the next nine months.”
Regarding the previous report that McIntyre and WWE were not close to a new deal, Drew has made it clear that he was going to wait until much closer to the deal’s expiration date to sign anything. He feels there are several factors to consider. The report continued,
“McIntyre is actually one of many contracts that are set to expire within WWE by the end of 2024. After the emergence of AEW in 2019, WWE signed dozens of talent to 5-year contracts that year. Many of them ended up being cut and brought back during the pandemic.”
WWE is said to be eager to keep McIntyre, and they hope to have talks with him later this year.
