Despite reports earlier this year that several WWE higher-ups don’t view Sami Zayn as a major draw, one person at the top of the company says that’s no longer the case. The reports from back in January stated that both Triple H and Vince McMahon didn’t view the former Honorary Uce as “the face of the company.”

According to a report from Fightful Select, several key people at the top of the food chain in WWE have been thrilled with Zayn’s recent work, and he’s gone on to challenge Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will now be teaming up to face off against The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 39 this weekend.

One WWE source says Triple H and others have been very happy with Zayn’s performance and crowd reactions in recent months. Additionally, Zayn has been very easy to work with during his storyline with The Bloodline. The source said,

“He’s headlined a PPV, he is the focal point of our biggest shows. He’s main eventing WWE Raw, and is ‘1B’ for the biggest storyline in the company. Elimination Chamber didn’t happen in his hometown by accident. For anyone to say that we don’t view him as a top guy just hasn’t been watching the program or are fabricating things. We had a solid set of plans in order both for him and the championship. Just because he isn’t competing for the championship, doesn’t mean he isn’t viewed at that level. He’s been the MVP since last Summer, and I couldn’t see many disagreeing with that point.”

Finally, it was said that Zayn fully improvised his pre-Elimination Chamber promo in Montreal. The source noted that it actually turned out better for the company and Sami in the end.
