As we previously reported here on eWn, Jon Moxley signed a five-year contract extension with AEW. Fightful Select has provided more details regarding Moxley’s future with GCW.

Moxley is said to be working exclusively now for AEW and the company’s internal partners, such as New Japan Pro Wrestling. Moxley lost the GCW World Championship to Nick Gage at Saturday night’s GCW Fight Club 2022 event. The Firm’s W. Morrissey and Stokely Hathaway helped Gage to become the new champion.

According to GCW sources, AEW didn’t want Moxley to work the match against Gage at Fightful Club 2022. The company apparently had asked their talents not to work GCW dates. Moxley insisted on working the match anyway and finishing up his time with the company. The report notes that Moxley isn’t expected to work any additional GCW dates in the future.

Fightful also added that Moxley will have the freedom to work independent dates in the future; however, they will be on a “surprise basis.” Moxley is set to defend his AEW World Championship against Hangman Adam Page on October 18th in Cincinnati, Ohio.
