Ric Flair’s last match event is slated to take place in Nashville, TN on July 31st.
Fightful Select reports that the working plan is to do a tag team match, and there are names in mind, but none have been finalized.
Ricky Steamboat was being courted for the match as the original idea called for Steamboat and the Rock N’ Rock Express to team up to take on FTR and Ric Flair. There were several hurdles in the way.
Despite having interest in doing the match, Steamboat’s asking price was “extremely high.” Steamboat did meet and discuss the possibility of the match, but the terms could not be met. FTR have yet to gain clearance for the match from AEW President Tony Khan.
And finally, the original plans called for the event to be in Chicago, before pivoting to Nashville.
