As we reported earlier today here on eWn, AEW will not be renewing the contracts of Awesome Kong and Shanna. The two women were removed from the AEW roster this past weekend.
According to a report from Fightful, it was fairly well known since April that Shanna wouldn’t be returning to the company. The reason for her departure is due to “some issues with her and some of the other wrestlers.” According to sources, Shanna’s interactions with some of the extras and how she treated them was one of the main reasons for her departure.
As far as Kong is concerned, she has rarely been seen backstage in the last 16 months following her split with the Nightmare Collective. This is because she was no longer cleared to wrestle. The original plans for Kong called for her to be put in a backstage coaching role in AEW.
