UPDATE: In an update on Sammy Guevara getting heat over busting open Matt Hardy the hard way with a chair shot during Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite broadcast, Guevara actually grabbed the wrong chair to hit Hardy with.
AEW had a regular folding chair at ringside that Guevara was supposed to use to hit Hardy. Obviously, that would have weakened the blow significantly. When he was unable to find that chair during the moment, he panicked and grabbed another one which was much heavier. That was the chair that busted Hardy open. We reported earlier (see below) that Guevara was given a “stern talking-to” when he returned to the backstage area.
ORIGINAL: On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Sammy Guevara and Matt Hardy brawled with one another. During the segment, Guevara tossed a chair at Hardy’s face and put him through a table. Hardy was bleeding everywhere after the attack.
Per a report from Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio, Guevara received a “stern talking to,” by people backstage after the segment. Guevara was not supposed to throw the chair full force at Hardy’s face the way he did, and those backstage were very unhappy. Hardy received ten stitches after it was all said and done.
