According to a report from WrestleTalk, one of the reasons that Sting decided to sign with AEW is because of the way he was treated in WWE. It’s well known that Sting wasn’t happy about his WWE run and the way he was booked while being there. He lost both of his major pay-per-view matches and was barely used. Vince McMahon and other WWE officials also never liked the idea of doing a Sting vs. Undertaker match, which is something Sting wanted badly.
As noted, Sting’s legends contract expired in May. WWE later pulled his merchandise from WWE Shop in October. According to the report, Sting decided to join AEW to do “something good” for his fans during his “final farewell.”
While Sting will be a regular character on AEW Dynamite, he isn’t expected to take any major bumps due to his spinal stenosis.
