PWInsider reported on Monday that WWE has signed top European indie wrestler WALTER. Although not confirmed, he could start training at the WWE Performance Center as early as January 2019. It was added that WALTER’s WWE signing is reportedly what led to him dropping the PWG Heavyweight Title to Jeff Cobb last month. PWG officials also wanted to bring WALTER back for a farewell appearance in December but his WWE deal prevented that from happening.

In an update, Dave Meltzer stated on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that WALTER isn’t expected to work a full-time schedule in NXT or on the main roster due to him not being interested in moving to Florida because he’s happy with his life in Germany and wants to continue living there. WALTER is likely to make occasional NXT USA appearances that include live events, TakeOver, and TV tapings. There is an internal belief that he will be a key part of WWE’s NXT Germany brand when it launches.
