Well, so much for those rumors. According to a report by Pro Wrestling Sheet, Rocky Romero has signed a new two-year contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling. According to the website, the rumors of him possibly “jumping ship” to WWE helped him land the new deal.

Romero had recently been working through a verbal agreement with the company and when they found out there was interest from WWE, they immediately tired to lock him into a new contract. The company offered him two-year deal instead of their standard one-year contracts. The new deal allows Romero to continue taking indy bookings and he can also work for Ring of Honor.

Romero was strongly considering signing with WWE but ultimately decided he wanted to continue wrestling before he became a full-time trainer for WWE (NXT).
