According to sources, MVP’s Lucha Underground contract being terminated over a recent podcast is not going over well with numerous talents and some officials within the company. As we reported last week here on eWrestlingNews.com, MVP was fired from the company after he “violated the terms of the deal”. This came less than a week after he had announced that he’d signed with them. MVP posted a video on YouTube in which he apologized and took full responsibility. He claimed he had some Lucha Underground talents on his podcast and they weren’t “approved” in advance, thus resulting in his termination.

Numerous Lucha Underground officials were upset with the podcast because there was discussion of what was going on in the company and it was believed that several spoilers were leaked. The parent company’s lawyers were reportedly pissed off and weren’t happy even after he took it down, arguing that he violated the non-disclosure terms of his contract. During the podcast in question, women’s wrestler Catrina revealed that her character was 138 years old, which hadn’t been revealed on TV yet. This upset the parent company of the promotion.

Among the talent and some members of management, there was a feeling of shock over the firing along with the belief that it was a very “petty” way to fire him, with the possibility it was a cover for something else. MVP’s podcast co-host Alex Greenfield has said the termination was a “personal betrayal” on someone’s part. Basically, someone in a higher-up position doesn’t like him and wanted him gone.
