According to sources, “War Machine’s” final NJPW match will either be the Wrestle Kingdom 12 pay-per-view event (six-man gauntlet match) or the next day at New Year’s Dash. The tag-team notified New Japan management just last week that they were leaving the company for WWE. As of just a few weeks ago, New Japan Pro Wrestling officials were under the impression that their status was up in the air and that they were still weighing their options.

In recent weeks, “War Machine” had been telling indie promoters that they weren’t taking on any additional dates after early next year. They reportedly notified ROH officials back in October to not make any plans for them in 2018. As we reported yesterday, “War Machine” is currently undergoing WWE’s medical testing and background checks. The tag-team were in talks with WWE last year but that was when WWE had their legal issues with ROH and the company opted not to sign any ROH talent until the issues were resolved.

As noted earlier today, Chris Jericho is not only working the January 4th NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12 event against Kenny Omega, but is also booked to work the January 5th NJPW New Year’s Dash event. New Year’s Dash in a way is like the Raw after WrestleMania, and usually kicks off the next wave of storylines for the company. If Jericho is sticking around to do anything else with NJPW, we’ll find out then.
