According to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barasso, who attended Monday’s WWE RAW 25 special, here are some backstage news and notes from the show:
The WWE RAW 25 show was re-written approximately three hours prior to the show going live. Some of the re-writes weren’t finished until nearly 7PM EST, as the “Kickoff” show was going live on the WWE Network and social media outlets.
The creative team found out that Jimmy Fallon could not arrive early enough to do any pre-taped segments with some of the WWE Legends. This caused some of the re-writes.
One of the segments originally planned involved the former RAW General Managers. The segment became nothing more than introductions and waves to the crowd.
Enzo Amore was scheduled to face off against Goldust. That match was scrapped after the rape allegations against him surfaced. As previously reported, Enzo’s planned spot went to Heath Slater, who got put through a table by The Dudley Boyz.
WWE was completely blindsided by the Enzo Amore rape allegations and sent him home immediately after WWE officials confronted him about the questions they were being asked by mainstream media outlets. To say they weren’t happy that he didn’t notify them that an investigation was ongoing would be an understatement.
