Former WWE Champion Big E has been hospitalized since suffering a horrible injury that resulted in a broken neck during a tag match featuring himself and Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus and Ridge Holland on SmackDown. Holland was attempting an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on the arena floor when Holland went to throw Big E. Instead of landing on his back, he landed awkwardly on his head. He was stretchered out of the arena shortly thereafter and gave a thumbs up to the crowd, signaling that he was okay.
Big E would later confirm that he did suffer a broken neck, with fractures in his C1 and C6 vertebrae. The good news is that he does have full feeling in his arms and legs and didn’t appear to suffer any damage to his spinal column. Needless to say, his in-ring future remains up in the air at this time.
Big E did post another positive update (no pun intended) in a Twitter response, stating that he was back home from the hospital and doing well.
