WWE Superstar John Cena will indeed be returning to WWE in the very near future. According to a report from Fightful, the “working plan” is for Cena to return to WWE television on the July 23rd episode of WWE SmackDown. Of course, it could come sooner than that but it appears WWE wants him on the SmackDown brand to feud with Roman Reigns going into SummerSlam.
Cena last appeared on WWE television during his Firefly Fun House match with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36. He also appeared in a video promoting the WrestleMania 37, 38, and 39 locations.
During his absence from WWE, Cena has landed roles in F9, The Suicide Squad, a Peacemaker DCEU series for HBO Max, and being a host on Wipeout. He’s also set to be appearing in Argylle, which begins shooting in August.
