At the NJPW G1 Special, Billy Gunn challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. During the match, Gunn was showered in booes by those in attendance & he also received backlash via social media from fans. On the latest edition of the Pancakes And Powerslams Show, Gunn shared his thoughts on receiving a negative reaction to that specific match.
Here’s what he had to say:
Gunn: “Everyone has a platform to voice their opinions, great. I let people have their opinions, that’s all good, nothing has to match mine. I don’t think that everybody should or everybody has to agree. I get it, I get that a lot of people are saying: ‘What have you done?’ Well, I’ve done a lot of things. Until they look past that, I have earned a name in this business, worked hard to get it, worked hard to keep it. I happened to be a part of one of the greatest factions of all time, let’s not undermine that at all.”
