During a recent interview with the All Things Wrestling Radio, former WWE Superstar Bob “Hardcore” Holly commented on the 2002 in-ring incident where Brock Lesnar broke his neck.

For those unaware, the working theory for many years was that Holly was working stiff with Lesnar throughout their match and was “sandbagging” him. Due to Holly’s sandbagging, Lesnar purposely botched a powerbomb to Holly and it resulted in Holly’s neck being injured. Following the injury, Holly had to undergo surgery and it put him out for a year before he returned later in 2003.

According to Holly, it was simply an accident due to their “timing” being off. Holly now claims he and Lesnar are “good friends in and out of the ring.” Holly said,

“Things happen, and it just happened. The timing was off, and it wasn’t malicious, it wasn’t intended to happen, and Brock and I are good friends in and out of the ring. So, we had a good working relationship. I enjoyed working with him. After it happened, he felt bad, and he called me after my surgery and he’d check on me periodically and see how I was doing. So, for these people that think they know what happened, they don’t.”
