According to a report from Pwinsider, ECW Legend Jerome “New Jack” Young passed away earlier this afternoon. The early reports are that he suffered a heart attack at his home in North Carolina, where he had been living in recent years. Young’s wife Jennifer has confirmed his passing.
Young was just 58 years old at the time of his passing.
Jack was a controversial figure in the pro wrestling world, breaking into the business in Georgia while being mentored by Ray Candy. He went on to form The Gangstas with Mustafa in Smoky Mountain Wrestling and eventually they came to ECW during the summer of 1995. New Jack would often face his opponents with brutal weapons as Ice Cube and Dr. Dre’s “Natural Born Killaz” anthem played over the PA system the entire time. New Jack jumped off numerous balconies during his time in ECW and often came to the ring with a shopping cart or trashbin full of weapons for his matches. He used everything from forks to kendo sticks to staple guns and lots more.
We send our deepest condolences to New Jack’s family and friends.
