Takeshita originally arrived in AEW in April of 2021 as a friend of Kenny Omega. He teamed with Michael Nakazawa to take on the Sydal Brothers in a match on AEW Dark: Elevation. Following that appearance, he would return to his home promotion of DDT Pro in Japan. Takeshita returned to AEW a year later and quickly rose from Elevation to Dark to the larger stages of Dynamite and Rampage.
While he suffered quite a few defeats in his first go-round with Tony Khan’s promotion against the likes of Jay Lethal, Hangman Adam Page, Jon Moxley, and Claudio Castagnoli, he would come out victorious in his return match on last night’s Rampage, teaming with Jun Akiyama to defeat Ortiz and Eddie Kingston.
Takeshita will speak live on tonight’s “Zero Hour” program, which is the kickoff show for Full Gear. Zero Hour can be seen live on YouTube at 7 PM EST.
