If anyone can get various gambling bodies to approve betting on WWE, it’s Nick Khan, at least according to Brian Gewirtz.
Earlier this month, it was reported that WWE is hoping to legalize betting on their product despite wrestling’s scripted nature.
WWE will reportedly keep match results top secret, even from the wrestlers until an hour before the match, if their attempts to legalize betting are successful.
Appearing on “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” Brian Gewirtz said that if anyone can get this done, it’s the WWE CEO. He said,
“It wouldn’t seem realistic when I was there, but I have a lot of faith in Nick Khan.”
While Gewirtz has faith in Khan’s ability, he also believes the practicality of the idea could be too much for WWE. He added,
“I left in 2015, and no one on this writing team would dare to consider it for not just moral reasons, but practical reasons.”
Gewirtz concluded by stating that taking bets on cards could be “disastrous” and that bets should be limited to select matches.
