Despite legitimately walking out of the WWE SmackDown TV tapings earlier in the day, WWE officials were able to calm Brock Lesnar down enough so that he returned to the tapings at the last minute.
The original script for SmackDown called for Brock Lesnar to appear during the opening segment. When Lesnar found out about Vince McMahon’s retirement, he walked out and refused to return to the venue.
During the closing segment of Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Lesnar came out with just several minutes remaining in the show to confront Theory, who had just lost a six-man tag match by DQ.
In recent weeks, Theory has been touting his plans to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the winner of the Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar “Last Man Standing” match at SummerSlam 2022.
WWE SmackDown came to a close when Theory tried to take out Lesnar with a cheap shot. For his troubles, Lesnar wound up hitting Theory with an F5. The “Beast Incarnate” then used Theory’s briefcase to attack him with it, before hitting another F5.
Before people start jumping to conclusions and call everything a “work,” that’s not the case here. Multiple sources have confirmed that Brock Lesnar did in fact walk out of the WWE SmackDown TV tapings on Friday and was angry while doing so. WWE officials immediately tried to make contact with him to smooth things over – and that’s exactly what happened. These things happen in real-life and not everything is always a work in the pro wrestling business.
