Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Brodie Lee had considered joining NJPW instead of AEW when he first hit the free-agent market after his WWE departure.
However, Lee ended up agreeing to sign up with AEW.
Per the report, Lee wanted to work with wrestlers closer to NJPW’s style than other companies and was friends with AEW Vice President Chris Harrington, which may have played a part in his decision to go there.
