A rare meet & great was scheduled to take place in Waynesboro VA involving The Undertaker and Kane (in full character). The appearance was intended to be a benefit to help 5-year-old Gracie Phillips, who was diagnosed with Pediatric Liver Cancer.

However, in January it was reported that this appearance was cancelled. According to a statement sent to the “WrestlingInc” website, the appearance was cancelled due to lack of communication and payment from the promoter. It was also noted that Mark Calaway, who performs as The Undertaker in WWE, had agreed to a heavily discounted rate due to the charitable component and nature of the event, and that he hopes to return to Waynesboro in the future.

It is said that the promotion originally started as a organization “Ward Family Promotions” putting on charity shows that included performers such as Abyss, Sonjay Dutt, Jerry Lynn, Scott Steiner, Billy Gunn, Jerry Lawler among other names. The promotion evolved into “Awesome Wrestling Entertainment” that had even put on a PPV event titled “Night Of The Legends” that saw Kevin Nash vs Ricky Morton in the main event. This event at one time could even be found on Netflix for viewing purposes. Over the years, the promotion had put on local events such as “Night Of The Horseman”, “Night Of The Icon”, and a Q&A starring Shawn Michaels.

This event had a set ticket price of $250 per person. As of February 2019, numerous complaints from ticket buyers are still occurring over not receiving a refund from the canceled event. The promotion has since deleted their official Facebook page along with their official website. No further statements have been released from founder Doug-Marvin Ward at the time of this posting.
