Carmelo Hayes made his debut on Tuesday night’s episode of WWE NXT and decided to channel some “Ruthless Aggression” into his character. Many may recall back in 2002 when John Cena debuted in WWE and used that same term when battling Kurt Angle on SmackDown, in spite of the loss (see below).
Hayes came out and confronted Adam Cole during the opening segment. Despite Hayes challenging Cole to a match, Cole decided that he didn’t want to wrestle as directed by NXT General Manager William Regal. Cole asked Hayes what made him think he could change his mind, and Hayes said “Ruthless Aggression!” before slapping Cole.
Despite a back-and-forth match, Cole would go on to defeat Hayes with the Panama Sunrise. You can check out some highlights from the match below:
We also saw WWE NXT World Champion Karrion Kross attack Johnny Gargano after Gargano and Austin Theory defeated Pete Dunne and Oney Larcan in tag-team action. Kross attacked after Gargano cut a promo earlier in the night saying that he showed Kross up during the Fatal Five-Way match at NXT Takeover: In Your House and then said he should get a next NXT Championship match.
