Chelsea Green may have had plenty of characters in her wrestling career, but her recent ‘Karen’ character was not her idea.

Green made her return to WWE during this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match in which she broke the record for the shortest time spent in a Women’s Rumble.

In the following weeks, Green would debut her ‘Karen’ character, making repeated complaints to Adam Pearce and wishing to speak to management.

During a recent appearance on the “Out of Character” podcast, Green explained how the character came to be. She said,

“It was not an idea I had. Let me tell you something, I am not shy. I will pitch 101 things and the internet makes fun of me for it, and I don’t care. My favorite thing to do is to come up with pitches that are so ridiculous and out there, but Karen was not my idea.”

Green added that she first saw rumors about the character being shared online, and when she asked WWE management about it, they said they’d discuss it later. She added,

“I kind of was like, ‘Well, I want to start it tonight. If I don’t win this thing, when I get out of the ring, I’m gonna start being a Karen,’ and so I just did it.”

Chelsea Green has formed a tag team with Sonya Deville and the pair will challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on tomorrow’s edition of RAW.

In the interview, Green also spoke about how she got her job back with WWE, which you can check out here.
