Chris Jericho’s in-ring career would have possibly come to an end already if not for the existence of All Elite Wrestling.

In January 2019, Jericho joined Tony Khan’s promotion and was crowned the first AEW World Champion later that year.

While speaking to ET Canada, Jericho said that AEW helped reignite his passion for wrestling, and said he was feeling “whatever” prior to signing. He said,

“It was a little bit of a risk to come here. I could have stayed in WWE and been comfortable for the rest of my career. And if I had done that, I don’t know if I’d still be wrestling today because I was very just mentally like, ‘Eh, whatever.

“AEW kind of reignited my passion and reignited my creativity. It took things to the next level all across the board. I think 2022 was a career year for me as a result.”

In addition to being the first AEW World Champion, Jericho captured the ROH World Championship last year, which he addressed during a recent episode of The Sessions.
