Chris Jericho Says WWE Is Watching NJPW

IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho recently took to his podcast, “Talk Is Jericho,” to preview his Wrestle Kingdom 13 match-up with Tatsuya Naito. Wrestle Kingdom is New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) biggest show of the year.

It usually does very well, but this year, it might not end up being the promotion’s biggest event. NJPW and Ring Of Honor (ROH) will be co-promoting a sold-out show from Madison Square Garden on WrestleMania 35 weekend. During his podcast, Jericho said WWE is watching NJPW and what they’re doing:

“WWE is watching. Anytime you have a company that can come into WWE’s backyard and sell out Madison Square Garden — you can spin it anyway you want to; it’s WrestleMania weekend — it doesn’t matter. They did something that WWE has not done in years.

“They tried to block this show and it didn’t work out. When you’re talking about a company that has nationwide TV on AXS, it’s not NBC or USA, but it’s still funded by a billionaire, Mark Cuban. There is money there. WWE never takes anything like that lightly.”
