AEW World Champion CM Punk’s comments about ‘Hangman’ Adam Page on last night’s episode of Dynamite was not part of the plans for the show.
Punk appeared on last night’s Dynamite, a week after returning following a foot injury.
On the show, Punk issued Page a rematch for the AEW World Championship, but Page didn’t appear and Punk called the match “less important.”
Punk proceeded to call Page a coward and fans online accused the World Champion of ‘burying’ the cowboy.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Punk’s promo on Page.
”If you’re wondering about the CM Punk thing at the start of the show with Adam Page – That was weird. For everyone, as in, nobody knew he was going to do that. If you remember months ago when they were feuding and I said there’s a lot of reality to it, well, there’s a lot of reality to it.”
Punk and Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will unify their titles on next week’s Dynamite.
