Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that former WWE Champion CM Punk competed in a jiu-jitsu tournament recently.
It turns out that Punk competed under his birth name in a novice Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament.
“Punk, using his real name, quietly competed in a novice BJJ tournament recently and placed third in a 199.9 weight class division that had three competitors,” wrote Meltzer.
Punk has joined the announce team for Cage Fury Fighting Championships to commentate future events. He’d made his broadcasting debut at the CFFC 71 event on Dec. 14 at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City on UFC Fight Pass.
Punk lost to Mickey Gall in his debut MMA fight in 2016, then returned to the UFC for a unanimous decision loss to Mike Jackson.
